Rossini said of this sacred work that it is ‘neither small nor solemn’. Rather, it is by turns boisterous, intense, dramatic and rhythmic: a choral tour de and considered to be the most remarkable of his later compositions.
Guildford Choral will be joined for this masterpiece by brilliant soloists soprano Madeline Boreham, contralto Alexandria Moon, tenor Samuel Stopford, bass Daniel Barrett and conductor Jonathan Willcocks. Also with Philip Scriven, organ and Sue Graham Smith, piano.
