The Village has 2 preschools catering for children from 2.5 – 4 years, an infant school for children aged 4 – 7 years, and a junior school for children aged 7 – 11 years. The local secondary school is a short walk down the Farnham Road and it caters for children from 11 – 18 years. Whilst there are many other schools in the Guildford area, both state and private, the majority of children in the village attend these schools.

Queen Eleanor’s Junior School
Queen Eleanor’s C of E Junior School is a beautifully calm, happy and friendly school where every child is valued as a unique individual. We are a church school that serves the community through offering a loving, welcoming and respectful environment that celebrates children and families of all faiths and none. We provide an oasis of green space that supports physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. We value our rich and growing diversity, enabling all children to have a voice and become global citizens. We nurture curiosity and enable children to thrive and achieve academically.
When Queen Eleanor’s was first built it was a middle school and so we have an unusually large site with many fantastic facilities. We have lots of outdoor space including a huge playing field, outdoor classrooms and a fire pit, a large playground with gazebo, a covered courtyard area and even a small outdoor swimming pool. Inside, we have spacious air-conditioned classrooms, a hall with its own stage which we use regularly for our class assemblies and for the Year 3 Nativity and Year 6 production in the summer term, and a separate large gym with its own changing rooms. In addition, we have an ICT suite, a cookery room, a library and a space dedicated to the before and after school club.
Our children have the opportunity to attend two residential trips during their time at Queen Eleanor’s (Ironbridge in Year 4 and The Isle of Wight (PGL) in Year 6) as well as a range of day trips linked to their learning. We offer a wide variety of extra-curricular clubs throughout the academic year (Football, Basketball, Drama, Fencing, Judo, Gymnastics, French, Comic, Journalism and Art etc.) and regularly attend or host sporting events.
We have 3 classes (30 children per class) in each year group with a caring and dedicated team of staff. At Queen Eleanor’s we are aware of the need to look after the mental health and wellbeing of our children and staff and make this a priority. Our Home School Link Worker works with children and families building close relationships and offering support as needed. We believe all children have the right to enjoy and achieve to the best of their ability in a safe, happy and secure environment; the safeguarding of children is our highest priority.

Guildford County School
Guildford County School is the local secondary school located on the Farnham Road a short walk from Onslow Village. It is an outstanding school, highly valued by the community and catering for pupils from 11- 18 years of age. Not only does it facilitate exceptional academic achievement but it also offers a huge range of co-curricular activities for an excellent all-round education. The school values creativity and initiative with music and sport playing a particularly important part in the life of the school.
With about 1200 students it is big enough to be able to offer the full range of subjects and excellent facilities and yet small enough for every child to feel known and valued. The sixth form accepts students from other schools with about one third of the intake being new to County. The strong house system offers the sixth formers outstanding opportunities to develop leadership whilst offering the younger students great opportunities for involvement and participation. It is an aspect of the school which is particularly valued by the students both during and after their time at the school.
